Got Big Data?

What is it about catchy phrases that the leaders and pundits grab hold of and flog? Today it is Big Data! Do you have Big Data? Can you handle Big Data? You need Big Data to make it today. Before this, it was The Cloud with statements like “we operate in The Cloud”. Twenty years ago it was “we have a web site”. I’m sorry if this sounds silly, but it is.  We work with big data all the time. We have always been in the cloud. And we have a web site that you can access via the internet! I feel that people should focus less on their term de jour and more on results. Do you understand your customers? Their segments? Their behavior? And how are you using this insight to generate results? Go ahead, get some Big Data, but until you are generating measurable lift to the bottom line by increasing customer value, then try not to be a distraction by making a lot of noise.
