Spicy Gamification: Trojan's On-Site Promotion

By making something a little naughty you can sometimes create a lot of prospect interest and free PR. Recently Trojan had a promotion that was targeted at a local level that generated a lot of buzz on and off line. By giving away free vibrators they grabbed a tremendous amount of attention. Perhaps they did this in multiple markets and it was driven by their PR department? From the perspective that I look at the world, there should have been an online component to this where, if I could not make it to the give-away, I could sign-up on line to be entered into the drawing. This would move beyond the stunt to engaging potential customers. Each new prospect captured should be introduced to the promo and brand, brought up to speed, informed about the birds and the bees, and then graduated to receiving marketing offers to drive purchases. A good idea that could have enhanced into a great multi-channel concept by incorporating the customer.
